John W. Yu

John W. Yu, associate vice president for gift planning, currently manages the USC Office of Gift Planning. In this role, he oversees a team that works directly with donors and internal partners to secure resources for USC that involve a variety of assets, as well as tax and estate planning components. In addition, he is responsible for university-wide programs that support USC, including Trusts & Estates, the USC Donor Advised Fund, Charitable Remainder Trusts & Annuities, and Structuring Complex Assets. Lastly, he serves as Advancement's liaison to other USC departments regarding certain due-diligence matters involving gifts.

Prior to joining USC in 2007, John worked in private client banking at UBS. Before that, he held positions in corporate and business development and as an associate attorney in corporate and commercial transactions.

John received his BA from UCLA, his MBA from the USC Marshall School of Business (1999) and his JD from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco. He is a current member of the State Bar of California.

Fluent in Korean, John grew up in Orange County, California. He enjoys running, hiking and cycling, as well as traveling the world to experience new cultures and cuisines.
